Directory services and SME marketplace IndiaMART has hired Mudit Khosla as the senior vice president for big supplier initiatives, reports ET. In September last year, the then Tradus CEO Mudit Khosla quit the company. Ibibo group CEO Ashish Kashyap was managing the business of Tradus after Khosla left the company.
Khosla was appointed CEO of Tradus in February 2013. Prior to that, he was CEO of SeventyMM, which began as a DVD rental business, and then became an ecommerce venture.
Prior to this, Khosla was one of the founding members of the online travel agent Yatra.com and was the company’s Head of Strategic Alliances, responsible for managing Yatra’s partnerships in Banking, Telecom and Retail segment. He was also the business head for E-commerce at Times Internet, a company with which he spent over 5 years.
The ET report states IndiaMART has been making top level hires in the last 6 months. Lizzie Chapman was also appointed by IndiaMART to its board of directors earlier this year, to spearhead the finance solution for SMEs in collaboration with banks. The company also appointed Prateek Chandra as its chief financial officer this year, who will look at acquisition in the mobile technology sector, non native geographical companies and inorganic expansion.
BCCL backed IndiaMART, the ET report adds, now has a new core team and is considering shifting to value added and complementary services to its SME base in the form of a SAAS platform, along with a financing solution for buyers, to be rolled out in Diwali this year. Earlier this month, IndiaMart started offering an ecommerce site for SMEs through Tolexo.com, where SMEs could showcase their products and find buyers, according to this Business Standard report.
