Content: Electrical Fabrication Lights Up Success

“My name is Nitin Rasiklal Joshi. I hold a diploma in electrical and mechanical engineering. I passed out in 1963 from Diploma Technical Education Board, Gujarat,” These are the credentials of a man who with his dreamy eyed spectacles saw a future of becoming a leader in the electrical industry.

Turning Dream into Reality
The company Electrical Fabrication commenced business in 1974 as an electrical contractor, dealer and manufacturer and is into electrical fabrication and erection corporation services.

“We had first started the business as a junction box and electrical lighting and accessories manufacturer. We had supplied the material to the Gujarat Electricity Board Wanakbori Thermal Power station,” remembers Mr. Joshi.

Differentiation as a Strategy
While entering the market, Mr. Joshi realised that there were many suppliers like him who were offering similar products. He says, “Electrical is a competitive market and we had initially faced a lot of difficulties to introduce ourselves as an electrical manufacturer in Ahmedabad Electricity company and Gujarat Electricity Board. This was because ex-suppliers were tough competitors for us, so we had to meet their quality and competitive rates to stand apart from them.”

Online Tenders: Leading to Intense Competition
Not only did this pose a challenge but competition became fierce thanks to online tenders put up by the government on the website. “Nowadays all government organisations put their tenders on the website so there is an open competition for each and every tender and each and every item. Anyone from any part of India or world can submit his offer to the organization. So, now it is very tough competition,” explains Mr. Joshi

Online Medium, a Boon
To meet the competition head on, Mr. Joshi has also climbed on to the online wagon to find suppliers for his business. He says, “Sources like IndiaMART.com agencies are helping us find competitive rates from all over Indian market and we are able to fetch order of 66KV to 400KV substation order, from Getco and other substation.”

He adds, “We are getting so many competitive suppliers through IndiaMART.com and we have received competitive offers from concerned suppliers too. So, we are thankful to them for giving the best services to us at all times.”
