According to IndiaMart.com, TKM marketing chief Sandeep Singh said: “Toyota’s plan is to start assembling at its Bangalore facility from July and to launch in August. We are on schedule.”

Toyota Kirloskar has decided to go ahead with the plan despite the increase in duty. The company is relying on semi-urban and rural markets to boost growth. It will also increase its dealer outlets from the current 173 to 225 by the end of 2012.

The Etios, the company’s most ‘localised’ model in India will get further localisation from the current 70% to 90% over two years.
