IndiaMART.com & IAMAI join hands to organise 4th Conference on ICT for SMEs

Until a few years back, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) were reluctant to adopt emerging technologies. With persistent efforts from IndiaMART.com and Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), a major shift has been witnessed with these enterprises starting to leverage ICT for their businesses. Taking this commitment to a next level, IndiaMART.com and IAMAI have decided to come together for “4th Conference on ICT for SMEs”.

Cloud Computing is being touted as a next big wave to hit Indian SMEs. This forms the basis of this year’s conference whose theme is “Taking SMEs to the Cloud – Pay as you need”. The conference, to be held on July 29, 2011 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, will help SMEs understand the benefits of cloud for their businesses. Experts such as Mr. Dinesh Agarwal, Founder & CEO, IndiaMART.com; Mr. Rajiv Sodhi, Head- Online Business, Microsoft India; Mr. Shyaam Sunder, Chief Knowledge Officer, Ramco Systems; Mr. Brijesh Agrawal, COO, IndiaMART.com; Mr. Laveesh Bhandari, Founder Director, Indicus Analytics; Mr. Aakash Goel, Associate, Sequoia Capital; Mr. Sanjay Diwan, Vice President Marketing, IMI Mobile; Mr. Rohit Gupta, VP & Head – Wireless, Tata Teleservices Ltd will share their expertise and experience, detailing on simple ICT strategies which SMEs can adopt and use.

Professing his support to take SMEs to cloud, Mr. Dinesh Agarwal, Founder & CEO, IndiaMART.com, said, “Cloud computing has enabled an environment which makes SMEs free from data storage hassles and IT infrastructure management. This allows them to focus on their core businesses instead. Through this conference with IAMAI, we aim to provide a means to SMEs to be a part of this big change.”

This year, the conference will introduce SMEs to the cloud-based technology meant to streamline their business operations and pave way for their growth.

The conference will focus on the growing cloud computing market in India and throw light on how SMEs can be benefited by leveraging its services, and bring down overall operating cost and improve business efficiency. The entire conference is segmented into four different sessions that will cover topics such as ‘Patterns of Adoption and use of ICT by SMEs’, ‘Technology and Infrastructure for the Growth of SME’, ‘ICT enabled SME’s in Developing Countries & Financial Needs’ and ‘Moving to Mobile: Simple Strategies for Small and Medium Businesses to Digitize’. It will also elaborate on the constraints faced by SMEs in developing countries in implementing ICT, role of banks in driving ICT adoption, brand building for SMEs, devising business models to ensure success in using ICT, among many others.

The ‘Free for SMEs’ conference held last year by IndiaMART.com and IAMAI saw more than 500 SMEs from various industries gather for the event. It proved to be an interactive and engaging session that helped SMEs in better comprehending the services offered by ICT tools.
