IndiaMART emphasizes on the importance of exploring new markets and business diversification at the Emerging Business Forum, Surat

Mentors MSMEs on the nuances of strategically expanding their businesses to foray into newer geographies and diversify their client base

Surat, July 17, 2015: : IndiaMART, India’s largest online marketplace connecting buyers and suppliers organized an engaging discussion forum for the SMEs, IndiaMART Emerging Business Forum, (in association with ZEE Business) at The Gateway Hotel, Surat. The highly commended forum under the key theme, ‘Exploring Newer Markets’ focused on the importance of exploring newer markets for business expansion & growth and how MSMEs should take the first steps in this regard. Mr. Vikram Khanna, National Head – Sales, IndiaMART was the speaker at the event.

The discussion pivoted around important facets like the steps required to enhance the participation of Indian industries in trade, support expected from the government and how ensuring timely and adequate financing options can reduce the cost of trade and streamline logistical processes.

The Surat chapter of the 5th edition of IndiaMART Emerging Business Forum was preceded by the success of the event in Faridabad, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Jaipur, Hyderabad and Ludhiana.

According to Vikram Khanna, National Head – Sales, IndiaMART, “Owing to their size and scale of business, MSMEs mostly remain dependant on a very selective pool of clients thereby limiting their scope for diversification and growth. Similarly, since they primarily tend to manage several things on their own, it often becomes difficult for them to aptly infer different market conditions or understand the intricacies involved in trade and export processes. Significant reforms by the Government including Make in India will open up huge opportunities for MSMEs looking to explore national and global markets. ”

“At IndiaMART’s Emerging Business Forum in Surat, our objective is to mentor SMEs on the value of tapping new markets for expansion and how they can take the initial steps in that direction. Technological advancements coupled with product innovation and even ‘economies of unscale’ will assist Indian MSMEs to succeed in the marketplace.”, he added.

The event witnessed prominent leaders on the esteemed panel of speakers like Rohit Shashikant Mehta, Chairman, Moments Creations and Jewellery India Pvt. Ltd and FORLINK Ventures Pvt. Ltd. (International Business and Projects); Buddhadeb Ray, DGM, SBI; Chandrakant Shantilal Jariwala, practicing Chartered Accountant since 1972 and at present partner of M/s. C.S.JARIWALA & CO, Chartered Accountant, Surat, and Govind Sharda, President at Chiripal Group. There would also be a Special Session with Arun Kumar Jagatramka Chairman and Managing Director, Gujarat NRE Coke.

The Forum will now progress towards other Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities including Vadodara, Bengaluru, Indore, and Pune. It is deemed to unfold a series of profound discussions along with various influential industry experts on important topics related to the growth and development of SMEs in the country. The grand finale would be conducted in Delhi in the month of October.
