Starting a company at a time when the concept was still unheard of in the country, Mr. Kalpa Kumar Ghosh along with his three other partners took a huge risk trying to establish their brand. “We started this company 35 years ago. In those days, no one had heard about ventilators in India so we used to market these ventilator from U.S.A. Then the four of us, Mr. Kalyan Sengupta, Mr. Alok Mazumdar, Mr. Bhaskar Banerjee and I, decided to venture out on our own remote village on the river banks of Yamuna and we started this,” shares Mr. Kalpa Kumar Ghosh.

Being the first company to have introduced ventilators in the country, Medisys realised the shortcomings in its products and gradually improved them with the valuable suggestions coming its way. “We started with the prototype of first ventilator. We tried it in different hospitals and came across many difficulties. We gradually modified the systems after realizing the negative points in our prototype. Now we are making different types of ventilators, a microprocessor control ventilator & turban type ventilator. We are moving very fast,” says Mr. Kalyan Sengupta, Partner, Medisys.
How Medisys received popularity
“We are competing with a lot of foreign companies,whether in India we can produce all this equipment that was the biggest challenge faced. They tested our product and gave us the certificate. They also made research paper on it. In the Army, during the Kargil war, our equipment went there and saved the people. When I was in Udhampur, I saw a lot of people using our ventilator, coming from just the sector. So these are the things we have achieved,” shares Mr. Alok Mazumdar.
