Lessons for ‘Thriving in Chaos’ to draw over 1000 Entrepreneurs at TiEcon Delhi 2012

New Delhi September 27, 2012: TiEcon Delhi 2012, the annual flagship conference of the Delhi-NCR chapter of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), a global body of successful entrepreneurs that fosters entrepreneurship globally through mentoring, networking, and education is being held at Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi on Friday and Saturday September 28 and 29, 2012 between 9 am to 6 pm on both days.

To be attended by over 1000 entrepreneurs, over 60 speakers drawn from the eworld of entrepreneurship, policy makers, academicians and investors will dwell on the conference theme –“Entrepreneurship -Thriving in Chaos”.

The opening keynote discussion, on the conference theme ‘Entrepreneurship–Thriving in Chaos’, between celebrated entrepreneur and founder of Cobra Beer, Lord Karan Billimoria; HE Sir James Beven, British High Commissioner to India and TiE Delhi-NCR Chairman and founder of Naukri.com Sanjeev Bikhchandani will flag off the TiEcon Delhi 2012..

Mr Pramod Bhasin, vice-chairman, Genpact and Mr Shekhar Gupta, editor-in-chief,

Indian Express will draw out lessons for entrepreneurs in a session on the Politics of Change.

Prof Robert Gertner, Deputy Dean, Chicago University’s Booth School of Business, and Mr Luis Miranda, Chairman, Board of Advisors, Centre for Civil Society, will have a fireside chat on how to increase impact of social entrepreneurship on economies, society and the role education can play in accelerating it.

National Entrepreneurship Policy will be debated by Mr Arun Maira, Member, Planning Commission; Dr Saurabh Srivastava, Chairman Emeritus, TiE Delhi-NCR; and Mr Shekhar Kapur, Actor and Director. Dr Srivastava and Mr Kapur are National Innovation Council members. They will also be joined in by Nasscom President Som Mittal and Mr Jyoti Sagar, Founder partner of J. Sagar Associates.

The Power Panel on Education and Skill Development will have Sandeep Sinha, Managing Partner, Lumis Partners moderate a discussion with Dilip Chenoy, CEO & MD, NSDC; Harsh Chitale, CEO, HCL Infosystems and Sanjay Gupta, CEO, English Helper.

During lunch hour, the IndoUS Venture Partners (IUVP) leadership team will meet with the media to announce closure of a new multi billion rupee fund Kalaari Capital. Top team of Kalaari Capital and IUVP, Vani Kola, Kumar Shiralagi and Rajesh Raju will be joined by founders of IUVP funded companies.

In a session titled Road Not Taken, Pramath Sinha, Founder & MD, 9.9 Mediaworx will speak to Anup Vikal of Interglobe Technologies and Sunitha Krishnan, Founder General Secretary, Prajwala, widely recognised for her efforts in the anti trafficking sector and Sujata Sahu, Founder, Director of 17,000 Ft Foundation.

A rapid fire session on Technology, Internet and Mobile moderated by Alok Mittal, MD, Canaan India will have entrepreneurs Vijay Shekhar Sharma, MD, One97 Communications and Dinesh Agarwal, Founder & CEO, IndiaMart.

In another rapid fire session on Affordable Healthcare Jasjit Mangat of Omidyar Network will explore the MedTech Opportunity by drawing on the rich experience of Prof Balram Bhargava of AIIMS / Stanford India Biodesign program; Rekha Ranganathan, Sr. Director & Head of Strategy, Philips Healthcare; Ajay Bakshi, CEO, Max Healthcare; Manickam Palaniappan, Lead Auditor, Underwriters Laboratories; Amit Jain, CEO, eHealthPoint and Vijay Simha, CEO, OneBreath.

TiEcon Delhi 2012 platform will also recognize and honour founding teams of exceptionally successful start-ups at the awards ceremony in association with Lumis Partners.

On the evening of September 28, three young achievers and winners of the 4th TiE Aspire awards — Arunima Sinha, 26, Trekker and National level Football and Volleyball player; Utsav Lal Pianist, 20; and Kishan Shrikanth, 16, Actor and Film Director — will their share experiences and stories of extraordinary success and achievement with Mr Amit Bhatia, Aspire Human Capital.

There will be several special sessions for early stage and growth stage companies as also opportunities to network with the TiE Charter members.

On day 2 of the conference (Saturday Sep 29, 2012) the opening key note on Innovation and Localization will be delivered by Mr. John Flannery, President and CEO, GE India in a conversation with Pramod Bhasin.

Mr Pradeep Gupta, CyberMedia and Mr Rajan Anandan, Google will share their views on Social Media and Entrepreneurship in their keynote addresses.

Prof Robert Gertner, Deputy Dean, Chicago University’s Booth School of Business, will lead a session on social entrepreneurship with University of Chicago entrepreneurs Sandeep Ahuja, Founder & CEO, Operation Asha; Sachi Shenoy, Co-founder & Executive Director, Upaya Social Ventures and Christopher Turillo, Co-founder, Medha.

A group of women entrepreneurs will have a close door session to share highs and lows of their start up journey over lunch on Saturday. Open only to women entrepreneurs and women media persons.

In yet another session on Road Not Taken, Pramath Sinha will engage with Adil Hassan of Harvest Gold; Gautam Bharadwaj, co-founder of Invest India Micro Finance Services and Ashok Alexander, who led the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in India for long.

In a rapid fire session on Profit and Pride, Ashish Kapur of Yo! China will draw out brand stories from Celebrity Chef Sanjeev Kapoor, Dunkin’ Donuts’ Dev Amritesh and fashion designer Ravi Bajaj.

A keynote address by celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor is expected to be a big draw among participants, both women and men.

In a post-evening tea session on ‘Lessons of Scale’ participants will listen to Gautam Gandhi of Google India; Sanjeev Agarwal, Helion Ventures; Rajesh Raju, IndoUS Venture Partners; UKTI Dealmaker Alpesh Patel and Tarun Sharma, NEA as they share investors’ perspective.

The valedictory session on ‘Why We Work’ by Devdutt Pattanaik, Chief Belief Officer and Mythologist, Future Group will be moderated by MakeMyTrip.com’s Deep Kalra.
