If you are running a business in India, GST registration is not an alien word anymore. Any business that supplies services with an annual turnover exceeding Rs. 20 lakh is required to undergo GST registration. It is an online and hassle free process, but if you are still facing issues with it. No need to worry anymore!
Check out the step by step guide below and complete your GST registration, if you haven’t already.
- Go to the GST portal https://www.gst.gov.in/ and click on registration under ‘Services’ tab on the New registration.
- The GST application is divided in two parts: Part A and Part B. We’ll first fill in the Part A
- Under Part A, select the taxpayer under ‘I am a’ drop down list.
- Fill in all the details such as state/UT, district name, legal name of business, PAN number, email address, mobile number, captcha and click on Submit.
- Once you submit, you will receive a TRN or Temporary Reference Number that will help you login and complete part B of the process.
Filling up Part B of the GST application process:
- Login using TRN under the services tab itself. The process is Services > Registration > New Registration > Select TRN button.
- Fill in the TRN, captcha and request for OTP. Now fill the OTP and click on Proceed
- Go to ‘Saved Applications’ and click on the edit icon under Action. It will take you to a registration application form with 10 open tabs.
- Click on each tab and enter the required information such as business details, promoter/partner details, authorised signatory, principal & additional place of business, goods & services detail, state information, aadhaar authentication and verification.
- Once filled in, click on ‘Save & Continue’ . Sign it digitally using DSC and click on Proceed.
- You will now receive an ARN or Application Reference Number via email or SMS to confirm your registration.
You are all done now and ready to focus on your business. Let the GST authority process your application, which typically takes 7-10 days, subject to completeness of information provided, verification processes, and workload at the GST authorities.
