IndiaMART Emerging Business Forum empowers Businesses in Ahmedabad

Brings together respected leaders of the industry to discuss about the role and importance of skilling in India

Ahmedabad, May 08, 2015: With a promise to provide the next big leap to the small and medium enterprises in the country, IndiaMART, India’s largest online marketplace, today organized IndiaMART Emerging Business Forum (in association with ZEE Business) in the city of Ahmedabad. Intended to bring about winds of change amongst the most promising sector (SMEs) of India, the discussion centered around the key topic ‘Skilling – The Road Ahead’. After the grand launch of the 5th season of IndiaMART Emerging Business Forum in Faridabad on April 24, 2015, the second Discussion Forum was organized at Hotel Cambay Grand, Ahmedabad and brought together over 200 SMEs from across the industry.

According to Mr. Dinesh Gulati, Director, IndiaMART, said, “The Government of India has always considered skill development as a national priority. However, with only 2-3 % skilled labour present in the country, it is a cause of major concern for the growth of Indian economy. Keeping this in mind, IndiaMART Emerging Business Forum steps in to discuss about the myriad ways and opportunities to provide skilled manpower to the industry. The idea is to raise confidence, bring ideas to improve productivity and give direction for proper skill development. We are positive that by following a new and unique approach towards skill development, India could definitely move forward towards its targeted results.”

The event was graced by the presence of prestigious industry leaders like Prof Dhiraj Sharma, IIM Ahmedabad, Mr. Bhagyesh Soneji, Chairperson, ASSOCHAM (Western Region), Mr. Ajay Thakur, Head, BSE- SME and Piruz Khambata, Chairman – Rasna, who spoke about the broad framework for skill development in the country. The experts also spoke about the need to learn from international best practices of skill development, how SMEs grapple with the problems of attracting and retaining the right talent, and how the future trajectory of India’s economic growth will depend on both, Make in India as well as Skilling India.

The forum would now travel to 12 more Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities including Mumbai, Kolkata, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Ludhiana, Surat, Vadodra, Bengaluru, Indore, Pune and Mumbai, where it would unfold a series of profound discussions along with various influential industry experts on important topics related to the growth and development of SMEs in the country.
