New Delhi, 3 September 2010: With the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises creating waves across the country with their progress, the industry is also awakening to their tremendous growth. Keeping in line with this, Franchise India organized a two-day national convention ‘Small Business Congress 2010’ on 28-29 August, 2010, at Hotel Novotel, Mumbai in partnership with renowned organisations – IndiaMART.com and Microsoft. A voice for the SME sector, Mr. Dinesh Agarwal, Founder and CEO, IndiaMART.com elaborated on how an idea can be converted into a reality by developing a perfect model for the same in the inaugural session of the Congress. He shared space with Mr. Rod Young, DC Strategy, Australia and Mr. Dinesh Rai, Former Secretary, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India who chaired the session with Dr. H.P. Kumar, Chairman, NSIC.
The Congress also saw an interesting panel discussion on ideas and execution in small business moderated by Mr. Manak Singh, Executive Director, TiE Mumbai. Speaking as part of the discussion, Mr. Dinesh Agarwal highlighted, “Idea is more important than execution as it is the starting point of business for an entrepreneur. Execution is nothing but a series of small ideas that the entrepreneur implements along the way to scale up one step ahead.”
Various experts, entrepreneurial idols and investor community came together at the Congress to share their ideas and concepts with upcoming entrepreneurs. Different sessions touched various aspects of carrying out small businesses such as innovative advertising and marketing, angel funding & traditional finance, turning an idea into a reality and women entrepreneurs in SMEs.
Apart from the informative sessions, Franchise India with Ernst & Young organised Small Business Awards that acknowledged the contribution of achievers and suppliers in the development and growth of SMEs in India. The awards were divided into four main categories with different sub categories. Mr. Dinesh Agarwal was invited to present the award to the chosen promising entrepreneurs.
