In the quiet lanes of Mahsi Block, Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh, stands Upper Primary School Pipri Khas, a school that, for years, struggled to offer more than just the bare minimum. The children here, many from marginalised rural families, often came not in pursuit of learning but for the assurance of the government’s mid-day meal, their only hope of getting at least one full meal a day. Education here was more about survival than learning and exploration.
The young learners sat through dust, heat, and dilapidated surroundings, trying to pay attention while battling discomfort. For many, school was not a joyful pursuit but a test of endurance, an experience that chipped away their curiosity and drained their enthusiasm.

Under the school infrastructure development project, the renovation work started in 2024, now transforming the school into a safe, vibrant, and dignified space. The effort went beyond just renovating walls; it created a conducive learning atmosphere where teachers can focus on teaching and children can learn with comfort and confidence.

The impact is evident. An initiative taken towards providing quality education has begun to show results, with the school reporting a rise in attendance. A total of 503 students are now regularly walking through the school gates with a sense of purpose. They no longer come only for a meal, but to learn, grow, and fulfil their dreams that suddenly feel within reach. The rejuvenated classrooms not only shield them from hardship but also foster their imagination and renewed hope.
For nearly a century, this school has stood at the heart of its community, but today it shines brighter than ever as a beacon of hope and possibility. Here, learning has turned into joy and discovery, and the children of Pipri Khas now receive not just nourishment for their bodies, but also the enduring nourishment of knowledge and opportunity, and a promise of a brighter future.
