IndiaMART’s transaction-based B2B marketplace Tolexo ropes in former Jabong CTO Harsh Kundra as product & tech chief

Harsh KundraTolexo Online Pvt Ltd, the company that owns and operates Tolexo.com, an e-commerce marketplace for business goods and supplies, has appointed Harsh Kundra as its co-founder and head of product & technology. In his new role, Kundra will power the growth plans of the company by leading innovations in product and technology, as well as developing solutions that drive business.

“I am excited to be a part of a venture that has seen tremendous traction in a very short span of time. At Tolexo.com, my focus will be to build products and engineering systems & capabilities for the online marketplace to deliver best-in-class experience to buyers and sellers alike,” said Kundra.

Commenting on the appointment, Brijesh Agrawal, co-founder and CEO, Tolexo.com said, “I am certain Kundra will play a key role in achieving our vision of becoming India’s largest e-commerce platform for business goods and supplies.”

Kundra has over a decade of experience in managing technology and products at various organisations, with special focus on e-commerce businesses. In his last stint, he was the CTO at Rocket Internet-backed lifestyle e-tailer Jabong.com. Prior to that, he was a founding-member at Info Edge-backed Meritnation.com, where he oversaw product design and management.

He had earlier also worked at companies like Hindustan Times, Isango.com, and Lutron Electronics. A B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering, Kundra also holds a Masters in Human-Computer Interaction, School of Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon University, US.

Launched in August 2014, Tolexo.com is an e-com marketplace that enables businesses to list their entities and consumers to buy various items through the platform. The company provides technology & services that enable selection, payments, customer support, and fulfilment- all as an integrated experience.

An IndiaMART subsidiary, Tolexo.com is leveraging the existing buyer and seller networks that the group has acquired in the last 18 years since establishment. It claims to have built a collection of over 5 lakh products in a span of six months, and at the current growth rate, it will have 5 million products by 2015-end.

Backed by Intel Capital and Bennett, Coleman & Company Ltd (BCCL), IndiaMART offers products that enable SMBs to generate business leads and use business information (finance, news, trade shows, and tenders, etc.). While IndiaMART is essentially a B2B platform that connects global buyers with suppliers, Tolexo.com is an online retail marketplace that enables transactions between the two.

Tolexo.com was founded by Agrawal, who is also the co-founder and director of IndiaMART. He had also roped in Navneet Rai, co-founder, Inkfruit.com (merged with private label fashion e-tailer Zovi.com back in 2013), as a co-founder.
